Review: I’m not going to lie, I saw all the hype and decided to try it. I’m a little surprised that so many naturals are crazy for it considering it has Dimethicone though.

But, I love the smell. I love it! I love it! I love it! It’s coconut-y and flowery and it made my hair smell delicious. The color is a little off putting.  It’s baby blue and crazy thick. I bought a big bottle (23.7 oz), which lead to some try-to-squeeze-out-while-hands-are-soaking-wet issues.  A quick transplant to an empty sauve bottle fixed that up though.

Detangling was a breeze. I shampooed with Dr. Bronner’s Castille Soap in Lavender and applied this directly. Mind you, my hair was a MESS by the time wash day came around. I’ve been wearing updos (single flat twist in the front with afro puffs or a high bun in the back—possible style tutorial?) for three days. One day three, I went to my schools African cultural show (I think some of you ladies are readers? Great job everyone!), the after party where I danced for 4 ½ hours, and then fell asleep/crashed at my friend’s. Sans satin scarf. On a cotton pillowcase. Yeah. Totally worth it =)

Then came wash day and I’m not going to lie: I was scared of what was going to happen. This thick BLUE coconut smelling conditioner is supposed get these knots of doom out of my head? Seriously? Yes, it did. And it was almost magical. My hair soaked up it like a sponge in water. I had to fight with some of the tangles, but none of them were as bad as I thought they would be.

As a co-wash: For some reason, I always test this product during worst of worst conditions. I used it as a co-wash to get IC gel out of my hair because I’d been wearing a mohawk for 3 days (mind you, the gel was GREAT for slicking the sides up. My friends thought I’d actually shaved the sides of my head). Not bad, detangling went smoothly. But I kept waiting for the other foot to drop, the one that will give me nightmarish build up or dryness. And it dropped: This can’t be on my scalp. At all. It makes me scalp itch like crazy. And it can build up. Nothing horrible, but if a sulfate wash wasn't done things could (and would) get ugly.

As a leave-in: NO NO NO NO NO!! NEVER EVER AGAIN! EVER!! Seriously, this was EPIC FAIL for me as a leave-in. My scalp is super itchy and my hair felt SO DIRTY. Ugh
