Social media has introduced me to so many brands and products. And I’d be lying if I said I never gave into the hype and purchased something up because The Internet wouldn’t stop singing it praises. And some of those products were amazing! And some were….Not so amazing.
Urban Decay Naked Palette (review here): I gave into the hype on this one – I really didn’t need it and ended up swapping it. It’s insanely shimmery and not great for me as an everyday palette. But Urban Decay’s Naked Palette will always have a place in my heart – it was my first Big Girl eyeshadow palette and I saved for months to get it.
Foreo Luna Mini (review here): I’ve been intrigued by cleansing brushes for a while, but I had zero interest in the infamous Clarisonic Brushes. Hence the Luna Mini, I use this brush with my oil cleanser to take of my makeup and while I like it, it’s definitely not something I need or would recommend to anyone wanting to step their skincare game up.
Paula’s Choice Everything: I have Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Exfoliant and their Extra Care Non-Greasy Sunscreen SPF 50 and I love them both. Their BHA exfoliant has made my skin even out so much and their sunblock works beautifully under makeup. And there is no funky grey or purple cast on my skin after application!
Colourpop Everything: Shadows, liners, and blushes. If they make it, I’ve tried it. But their shadows are truly a stand out product. My go to looks are made up of Colourpop shadows. Actually, the only shadows I’ve been wearing lately are from Colourpop. That’s how much I use them.
Qhemet Biologics: Qhemet Biologics was one of the first natural hair brands I fell in love with. Their Burdock Root Buttercream was absolutely dreamy. I stopped using it several years ago when it became impossible to get online. At the time it couldn’t be found in stores at all. But guess what I found in my local Sephora!!
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade: When I get stressed I pick my face. I’ve slowly stopped doing that, in favor of picking to my eyebrows. As you can imagine, that leads to bald patches. I picked up this pomade because everyone ranted and raved about it’s ability to create eyebrows that STAY PUT. But it’s a bit too hard core for me. Yes, it fills in my patches and it keeps my from picking because I don’t want to smudge it, but the learning curve? Pretty high. There were definitely days where I looked like I did my brows with a sharpie.
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks: I HATED liquid lipsticks when they first became a thing. They made my lips so dry they HURT. But Kat Von D’s lipsticks? One of the most comfortable lip products I’ve ever worn. EVER. That’s why they made it into my Favorite Products of 2015. They dry quickly and painlessly. They last FOREVER (assuming you don’t eat anything greasy or oily) and they come in a bunch of colors ranging from neutrals to bold blues.
Korean Skincare: The Internet is 100% to blame for my interest in Korean skincare brands and products. I heard so many amazing things from bloggers, vloggers and eventually friends I had to dip my toes in the water. And so far it’s been working really well for me.
What has the internet made you purchase? A new favorite? Something you’re still kicking yourself for spending real, legal tender on? Tell me in the comments!
