September is here which means summer is (unofficially) over! It’s starting to cool down. Pumpkin spice everything is just round the corner. The leaves are going to start changing. And it’s (finally) time to chuck my sandals to the back of the closet in favor of cute riding boots. I can’t wait! But before we kick summer to the curb, here’s a round-up of some of my favorite, summer beauty discoveries.
I immediately grabbed Wet n Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder in Precious Petals because it looked like a dupe for Becca’s beautiful (and very expensive) Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal. But I don’t own the powder version of Opal, so I can’t compare them. Opps. We’re going to ignore that and instead discuss the fact Wet n Wild made a BEAUTIFUL highlighter. And for under $5!
This summer is going to be a beast. It’s going to be makeup-melts-off-your-face hot. A true when-did-I-move-to-the-surface-of-the-sun summer. Seriously, it’s 87°F/31°C as of me writing this post. IN APRIL. I picked up Black Opal True Color Perfecting Primer in Medium because it promises light coverage while being hydrating, lightweight and pore refining. Perfect for days when I want coverage but Just Can’t wear makeup.
After being less than impressed by the Simple Micellar Water (review here), I wasn’t jazzed about Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Waterproof Makeup Remover & Cleanser. I ignored the hype surrounding it and kept doing my thing. But it was on sale with a $2 off tear away coupon making it cheaper than the go to eye makeup remover I needed to replace so I decided to take a chance. What can I say, I was feeling lucky.
Let’s do something different and talk about what I don’t like about Maybelline Fit Me Dewy + Smooth Foundation:
(1) There is no 340 Cappuccino aka what I wear in their stick foundation. Dewy + Smooth jumps from 330 Toffee to 355 Coconut. Not OK. And despite the fact they added new shades in their Matte + Poreless version, they don’t plan on extending this range for at least a year. Thankfully this shade oxidizes a shade darker and redder on me so it works actually works on my skin in winter despite being so light in the bottle.
