September is here which means summer is (unofficially) over! It’s starting to cool down. Pumpkin spice everything is just round the corner. The leaves are going to start changing. And it’s (finally) time to chuck my sandals to the back of the closet in favor of cute riding boots. I can’t wait! But before we kick summer to the curb, here’s a round-up of some of my favorite, summer beauty discoveries.
I change my mascara every three months like clock work. As a result, I rarely use non-drugstore mascara unless I can get it for a serious steal. $20+ every three months for an entire year is a lot of money! But after a nasty eye scare, I decided it might be time to switch to a “green” mascara with higher quality ingredients. So, I picked up Tarte Gifted Mascara. A paraben, sulfate, phthalate, and cruelty free, vegan mascara formulated without mineral oil or sodium laurel sulfates.
I ended up on a hunt for a Star Wars Limited Edition Covergirl Lash Blast Super Sizer Mascara because I saw The Force Awakens last week and ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. And the mascara sounds like it would be right up my alley. Anything that promises “corner to corner” volumized lashes in “very black” is on the potential best friend list immediately.
I’ve been downsizing my beauty collection lately. Nothing is safe. Hair products. Makeup. Skincare. If I don’t love using it or it doesn’t work wonders – it’s out. I’ve been on a purge rampage and the results were surprising. I didn’t think I would end up keeping the amount of drugstore products I did! Here are 6 products under $6 that made the cut (or I’d repurchase in a heartbeat if I don’t currently own them).
L’Oreal Miss Manga Rock fixed some of the issues I had with it’s older sister Miss Manga (review here). My biggest issues with Miss Manga were the wand (which started to grate on my nerves after a while), the color (not nearly dark enough), and the fact that it flaked. Despite the fact it fixed some of these issues, it’s not on my Gotta Repurchase List. And that’s coming from someone who likes the clumpy, spikey lash look Miss Manga Rock* promises.
I’m warning you now: if you like long, fluttery lashes, you might want to exit this post immediately. It might give you heart palpitations in a bad way.
