Oyin Handmades Juice Box

Oyin Handmades Juice Box

First thoughts

This pack of three ‘juices’ samplers provides the perfect way to try out all three of the scents of our ‘juices’ herbal leave-ins.

Our nourishing herbal leave-in tonics have been our most popular products since we first introduced “Greg Juice,” the original citrus-herbal version, in 2004. Now available in two other unique scents: Frank Juice w/frankincense and myrrh fragrance, and Juices & Berries with a fruity, juicy scent. This oil-free mixture of vegetable moisturizers and herbal essences is a great hydrator, moisturizer, 2nd day hair refresher, and humectant.

Price: $10 for 3 2oz bottles, 8oz for $12, 34 oz for $32.00

Review

First review of the year! From a company that is quickly becoming one of my favorites! I really like the fact that they kept the formula pretty much the same and only changed the scent associated with each product. As seen in the ingredients, which unless I missed something, are all the same! I love it when companies do this because now it’s just a scent swap instead of “ugh! It’s not the same!”

Out of all the scents, I think Greg Juice is my favorite. I love citrus scents and this particular one reminds me of Sierra Mist. Followed quickly by Frank Juice, which isn’t nearly as overpowering as the combination of frankincense and myrrh suggests it would be. Juices and Berries (henceforth: JaB) smells exactly like their Sugar Berry Pomade and using them together is just a lovely, lovely experience. If you own both, I suggest you try it. You will be in sugared fruit heaven. The scents last a surprisingly long time so if you don’t like one of them, well…good luck. Frank Juice lasted the longest of the three, I noticed it over 6 hours later when I flipped my hair (because I actually do that in real life) or when a gust of wind blew by. JaB faded the fastest but even that took about 4 hours. Color me impressed.

I only use spray leave ins when I have my hair in twists for a week or more OR I’m putting twists in at night after wearing an “out” style. Since I’ve been sick an insane amount towards the end of the year (pretty much November until now), I’ve been wearing my twists for 3+ weeks because I’ve been too weak to pick my arms up and getting out of bed is the Worst Idea Ever. And despite that fact, my twists aren’t getting dull and the resulting out style is coming out soft and shiny (but a little frizzier). And I’m 99.999% sure it’s because I’ve been spraying them with one of these leave ins ever few days.

The only thing I don’t really care for is the price-because I know I’ll blow through a full sized bottles in a few months and the cost-per-oz isn’t something I’m really feeling. But I just found out that they are selling MASSIVE 1 liter bottles for $32 which is an amazing buy, it’s less than a dollar per ounce! So when the next big sale rolls ’round I’m 99% sure I’ll be picking a big bottle.
